Addresses you search
- Your address is sent to our server, which asks the U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder for its coordinates.
- To answer repeat searches quickly, we cache the geocoder's answer for 90 days, keyed by a one-way hash of the normalized address text. The cache holds no IP address, account, cookie or other information about who searched.
- Our server does not log searched addresses, and never records them alongside IP addresses. IP addresses are used only transiently, to limit how many searches one connection can make per minute.
- Once the report loads, the address is removed from the page URL. The URL then carries only the hexagon identifier, an area of about 0.1 km². Shared links and share images show that area and its city, never your street address.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites. It gives us aggregate counts such as page views and countries. We use no advertising trackers.
Email alerts
If you sign up for alerts, we store your email, a coarse area of about 14 square miles (H3 resolution 6, never your address), the time, and the version of the consent text you agreed to. We send no emails until alerts launch. To be removed, email [email protected].
Error reports
If you report an error, we store your message, the section, the hexagon it's about, and your email if you gave one, so we can follow up.
We never sell data
We don't sell or rent any personal information, and we don't share it except as the law requires.
